Professional Qualifications
In terms of professional qualifications, I am a Chartered Accountant and have been a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales since 1994. I trained and then worked in London for 20 years and throughout that time had the opportunity to work on assignments in Europe, South Africa and North America giving me exposure to a large variety of different corporate structures and businesses.
My career has given me valuable exposure to audit, accountancy, forensic investigations and for a number of years I worked in corporate finance before moving into the world of commerce managing a European network of advertising agencies which gave me a more hands on business perspective.
After taking maternity leave and deciding to give up full time employment to look after my two children, I started working as a Finance Director for the family businesses (retail, property, consultancy and marine) which basically meant doing everything from the ground up.
This long and varied career has given me a wealth of experience at the grass roots of small businesses to large corporate city transactions and together with my naturally investigative, analytical, tenacious and resourceful character, I am not afraid to question and challenge what is being presented and to make sure the numbers are sound and fair.
My own experience
Throughout my own divorce, it was never about playing a high stakes game where the winner takes all, but being sure, as far as possible, of what the assets, income, costs and liabilities actually were so that I could negotiate and settle knowing what I was gaining or losing.
